What is the reason for this movement for upgrading kiran to KF-Kiran?
The users of Kiran FREE and Premium fonts are facing a standardization problem to keep up with 2 different layouts. Premium fonts are Paid whereas FREE fonts are not. This makes it even difficult for the Premium font users to create websites that use new keyboard layout.
Hence, A decision is made to offer the new improved layout to the community FREE of cost and stop the old keyboard layout.

How do I upgrade my site to new Kiran fonts standard?

The new KF-Kiran.zip file consists of a Word Document with UpgradeToKFKiran Macro. You can copy the Formatted text from your web site into the document and run the Macro. This will convert the old Kiran font text into the new KFKiran Format. Keeping up with this new standard will facilitate continued limited support from kiranfont.com and standardization.
What if I just change the name of the font from Kiran to KF-Kiran in my site in order to upgrade?

There are 11 character mapping changes on the standard keyboard and total 28 mapping changes including extended characters from old vs new layout. Excluding this other characters will match correctly and the text will 'appear to be correct' but you have to watch out and make manual corrections to the text wherever mismatch is seen.
Are you charging any FEE for this?

No. The new distribution of KF-Kiran, KF-Amruta, KF-Aarti fonts, related conversion utilities and documentation are absolutely FREE of cost as I strive to keep up with my commitment to the community. However, as any activity costs money, so from any like-minded individuals, I would accept any monetory help to share the cost. But there is no obligation for the support of the activity.
