The Proposed bridge is not a local bridge - but it is due to connect with local roads in thamesmead.
The roads are too small to be upgraded.
It will cause major polution.
If the proposal as first suggested was for a normal bridge then objections would not have been raised but this is a super-highway. The only reason for this idea is that to build smaller bridges is to expensive.
When the last proposal was last beaten at the enquiry there was an additional proposal to put a bridge accross at the blackwall tunnel - where at least the roads are motorways.
Bexley residents have shown their displeasure at local meetings including the one at the community centre in Wrotham Road, and recently in the general election when the only canidate supporting the bridge was kicked out. - Watch out Chris Ball and Bexley Councillors |
