I don't mean to be presumptious but isn't it possible a few of the Swift boats were turned over to the Thai Navy? I live in Thailand and although I'm not positive I could swear that I've seen Naval craft very similar to these patroling the Gulf of Siam. I would be happy to investigate this for you if you think there is any chance I am correct.

Sincerely

Richard

Re: Thai Swifts and PBRs

.

Richard ....

You are not the only only one that has observed Royal Thai Navy
Swift Boats and other patrol boats in recent trips to that lovely
country. Here is an image of two Swift Boats tied up to a pier near
a popular resturant in Bangkok, and also an image of some PBRs
docked on the Mekong near Nakon Phanom in northeast Thailand

A retired US sailor in Bangkok has approached a current Royal Thai Navy
Captain who has indicated that he may be able to put us in contact with the
personnel that operate and maintain these boats. The Captain indicates that
both the Swifts and the PBRs are used for regular patrols of the Mekong,
which forms the border between Thailand and Laos

If you know of additional contacts with Thai nationals that are associated
with these boats, please let me know. email addr: rbshirley@pcf45.com
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your interest and the question ... Bob S
