Waxie Sanitary Supply makes a product just for terrazo tile floors. It's called, of all things "Terrazo Tile Sealer". We strip floor completly. Then apply 3-5 thin coats. Then we finish with a good floor wax. Leave a lot of time between coats of the slealer. Waxie is based in the western part of the US.

We've used the Johnson product for washing the floor (Forward GP). For stripping you can use most strippers... but remember to use the long handle razor scrapper to scrape up any built up wax areas. This type of flooring sometimes has low pockets a scrubber cannot completely strip. When you're all done stripping the old wax, give it a good rinse job. The best way I found is to have two buckets of clean water with two people following the pick up machine person. The secret is to not allow the stripper to dry. If you are using an automatic machine, that's fine, but remember, you cannot "heal" the automatic machine.... the standard buffer for stripping can really work for you. Once everything is done and dry, try using Johnson's product PLAZA. It's their top of the line sealer. Don't use vinal floor wax... it will crystalize later and make a huge mess out of all your hard work. We normally give our floors two coats of sealers. |
