pensions?

I am a stationary fireman, and work at a school in Queens, New York. Techanically, I do not work for the board of education, but for a custodial engineer at that same school.
I have been getting conflicting reports of who is responsible for my pension. Most say it is my boss, but his union passed the blame to my union 74. My union 74 says they are not responsible for my pension!
Does anyone know who?

Re: pensions?

I'm not from the states ,so I don't know your laws. However, I would think whoever is makeing your deductions should be the one responsible for your pension.

Re: pensions?

My boss is the one who takes all the deductions out so it would be him! However his union says he is not responsible for my pension. I went to an attorney today, and he says my boss is responsible, and there is no ifs, ands, or buts about it!
If your job is absent free of a union, you should hope it stays that way. Unions are corrupt, and are suppose to represent the employee who pays union dues, but they don't, they only make deals with other unions, and forget about you!!
This information is a fact!

Re: pensions?

If you're in a union you should contact your union rep. If they give you the run around, contact the NYS State Attorney General. I'm sure someone has to be responsible for the pension funds... even if you need to contribute to it. I work at a school upstate and belong to CSEA. My pension is paid by the school since we're under the state pension plan. Let us know what you find out... maybe we can give more advice.

Re: pensions?

The union rep refuses to talk to me about my case. He did in the beginning, but once my boss's union put the blame on my own union, and said my union is responsible for my pension, my own union went away. I am sure the two unions made a deal, and now they cancelled any grievances, and nobody is doing anything about my problem!
