trazzle damage
If anyone knows if trazzle can be restored after acid damage, please let me know. A student decided to remove calcification from a 75 yr old trazzle floor with lime-away. Needless to say, the trazzle is scarred, white-ish where the acid was- Here's the wierd thing- when applying seal and finish, the damage magically seems to disappear- yet when the finish dries, the white damaged look is left. Does anyone have any advice/experience with this?- I'm tempted to totally strip the floor- but we are short handed lately, and I would have to bust ass on the idea that maybe this would work. -Thanks!-keepin' it clean and shiny at Michigan State University |

I would try and strip a small area, like 1 foot square and see what happens..sorry I have not experienced this problem but I would do a test spot first. |

We also have old trazzo tiles through the building. In the front door areas are the worst! They get salt damage. We had tried everything, and found that by giving it an acid bath first and scrubbing it with a stiff pad it takes most of the stuff out of the tile. Then we flood it with water, suck it up, then neturlize the floor! You can see if any white coating is left on the floor. You might have to do it again. After that you can put a sealer down. We do 2 coats of sealer. When that dry we put 2 coats of wax on. The floors look beatuiful! You will need some time to do this. We did ours on summer break. You need at least 3to 4 days to complete.
