Past news: Ride of Buelter's Beauties
The ride of Buelter's Beauties On Aug. 12, four members of the Big Ring Flyers took on the Town Hall Team Time Trial in Stillwater, Minn. A USCF-sanctioned event that was described by Mike Buelter as "a 25-mile sufferfest of wind, rolling hills and two cone turn arounds." Members of "Buelter's Beauties" included: Mike Buelter, Jeff Colbeth, Jim Frame and Scott Sawitski. They finished in 1:01:27, according to official results. Buelter picks up the story: "With only an hour of TTT practice the day before the event not a lot was expected. Our goals for the day were to have some fun and keep the rubber side down. Other than Scott, who is a mid-24 mph guy, the rest of us solo TT in the 23 mph range. We were hoping, maybe, just maybe, we could crack 25 mph (average) as a team. Race morning was bright, sunny and windy. The course, while challenging, was still fast and fun. The only negatives being the cone turn arounds and the wind. Scott --the strongest of the group -- took longer pulls and the rest of us did what we could. We came apart a little on a couple of turns and didn't shorten the pulls enough on the final leg into the head wind, but for the most part we had good rhythm and worked well as a team. Results: 4th out of 7 teams in the male open class. 25.09 mph average. Mission accomplished! Everyone had fun. We would do it again." Results and coverage of the event can be found here.
