Kirke Vei eyewitness Eleven members of the Big Ring Flyers turned out to take on the numerous hills and technical turns of the Kirke Vei 20K Time Trial Saturday morning in a mix of categories including stock bike and fixed-gear. Flyer Mike Sawitski of Oshkosh churned out a strong 6th place finish. Sawitski said he got off to a fast start with a good head of steam off the line before hitting a few tough hills early in the time trial. He eventually found a "good groove" and started to make time further into the race. "I struggled, as everyone did, with that last hill and felt like I was going backwards," he said. "Once we got through that I was able to squeeze out a couple watts and get across the finish line." Sawitski, who finished in 29:13:48 said he had a "pretty good day." "This, I think, was my best race of the year," he said. "Things finally clicked for me and I felt good."
