Past News: WiSport Worlds
WiSport World Championships (TT & RR) Alma, WI 9/22/07 After almost 30 races, the WiSport season came to an end Sept. 22 in the hills near Alma, Wisc. with a time trial and a road race to cap off the season. The 13-plus-mile circuit featured a fast desent that pushed 50 mph and a two-plus mile climb that served to break up mush of the field in the road race. Julie Phelps won both the road race (women only) and the women's time trial and Aandrea Potyondy Smith, Dave Goetzinger and Jeff Colbeth all brought home hardware from the event. A few pros and former pros were in the field adding a litle spice to the racing. Sounds like this event will be back next year with further enhancements. Bob Barabe noted, "The course was an excellant... with the descents running as high as 50 mph. while the two mile climb to some felt like their bike was going backwards instead of forward."
