Time trials and Crits

May 17& 18 2008

RIB FALLS, WISC -- The orange, white and blue had a strong turnout Saturday at the 25-mile Rib Falls Time Trial with 13 riders making the trek to central Wisconsin for the race. Adding to the constant up and down of the topography of the course were headwinds ranging from 18 to 33 mph (this really has become a common theme this spring) for the first half of the event.

Elmer Colyer (6th) and David Goetzinger (21) were the top two male finishers while Andrea Potyondy-Smith (50) and Julie Phelps (52) were the top two women finishers for the team.

Here's a break down of results:

5 - Elmer Colyer; 21 - David Goetzinger; 23 - Kyle Schmidt; 24- Mike Buelter; 31 - Jeff Colbeth; 32- Nate Phelps; 37 - Matt Rau; 40- Vince Meyer; 48- Robert Cattanach; 49 - Mike Berzinski; 50 - Andrea Potyondy-Smith; 51- David Bogenhagen; 52- Julie Phelps

Marilyn Rau shot some outstanding photos of team members in action.

MADISON, WISC. -- In other action, Jim Frame rode a pair of races in the WCA Wheels on Willy crit Sunday in Madison.
"Willy St. was a bit disappointing for me," Frame said in an e-mail account of the race. "In the masters 4/5, I missed the key move. It started as a four guy move, after the first prime, and then four more guys bridged to it. Matt Hansen was one of the guys... they stayed away.
Since it was an eight man break, and the money only went seven deep, I took out my frustration by taking two of the cash primes. I ended up 27th overall, and didn't contest the sprint finish for 9th," he said.
Frame also rode the Master 3/4 race, but dropped out due to a broken spoke .
"Altogether, I ended up winning $45, which covered my entry fees, and most of the cost of repairing my wheel....so it definitely could've been worse," he said.

KANSASVILLE, WISC -- In Southeastern Wisconsin, David Goetziner tackled the TT double header this weekend riding a 40K TT at the Bong Recreational Area (site of the WI state TT) Sunday along with Rick Green -- who is part of the BRF Flatlander (ILL) Regiment.
Both raced in the 50+ Masters with Goetzinger taking 9th and Green placing 19th.
