Time Trial, Crit and Road Races July 2-5 NORTHFIELD, MINN -- Weekend racing got off to a bang on Independence Day with Robert Cattanach (riding with SPBRC) captured 10th in the Masters 50+ division of the Northfield Crit. "A Fourth of July tradition, the Northfield Criterium races through the historic streets of downtown Northfield. Friday morning offered nearly perfect conditions with light winds and temperatures in the low 70s," according to a brief report of www.skinnyski.com. DUBUQUE, IOWA -- On Wednesday, Elmer Colyer hopped over to the Peddle Hollow TT in southwestern Wisconsin where he set a blazing tempo -- including one done with a broken front derailleur. Colyer reports he rode in both the aero and stock classes on the 10.5 mile course, breaking course records in both classes (Aero - average of 26.7 mph; stock average of 25 mph) and winning both classes. The stock event was ridden in his small ring due to a malfunction, Colyer said. OMRO, WISC. -- A quick tempo and constant attacks characterized the 35-mile Omro Classic road race Saturday that saw team members take second and third overall in the women's category. A flat course with a few mild climbs tossed in toward the end, did little to break up the pack until late in the race, and the team was able to get riders in the a few of the smaller packs running toward the front. Jim Frame (14) and Elmer Coyler (21) were the top finishers in the men's division while Andrea Potyondy-Smith finished second in women's and Julie Phelps took third.
