Message:   Phillip,

I am sure you will enjoy your trip to the Coppa Mille and Vernasca.

First the Coppa Mille. Yes, you will need a dual circuit master cylinder, it is a safety requirement. You can use a Zastava unit, that will fit the the drilling of one extra hole. As far the motor goes, if your engine is based on the Fiat 127 "push rod" block, with simply a overhead can head added, then you are OK. If it is the SOHC 1050 motor from the 2nd generation Fiat 127, then this will not go. There have been other overhead cam conversions of the A112 1050 motor.

For Vernasca you can "run-what -you-brung". I would suggest getting your entry in early, as the field fills up and there is a finite number of entries that they will accept.

If you ship your car on its trailer, then it is legal to tow it anywhere in Europe, as if you were there on vacation, behind a vehicle that you might rent over there. When I went in 2001, I did a deal with a rental company to rent "the same" truck every time. You might also consider renting a motorhome with a trailer hitch. I would make the trailer as light as possible as the tow vehicles there are all 2.8 litre turbos. Also there are some total weight restrictions. In 2004 I bought a Fiat Ducato furniture moving van on an ALKO chassis (low floor) and that worked out really well, but I was on my own, not with family.

Let me know what other questions you have.

Regards,

Paul Vanderheijden
