Hello Aaron,
Well, first both distributors turn in the same direction!! It is the engines that turn in opposite directions. How can this be? Take a look at the camshaft and jackshaft gears on the two engines. You will find that the teeth point in opposite directions.
This means that you can use an 850 distributor in a 600 block. Now if it is a distributor from a 903 block (as opposed to an 843 or 817cc motor), then the distributor shaft is approx. 5mm longer and a small spacer may be required.
