Experience of using the Flu Toolkit

Hi

I have installed and used the Miquest Flu Toolkit for the first time this week and would like to make a few comments.

We use EMIS LV

The EMIS LV User notes does not make it clear that Users need to access the query processesor by entering 'QP' from the main menu. Some of us have never accessed that part of the EMIS system before now.

The first time I imported the downloaded csv files and tried to import them into the Flu toolkit I got a Visual Basic error 400. I eventually discovered by contacting the PCT IT Manager, that the EMIS system had only downloaded 35 files instead of 64.

After downloading again, I then got a different error message on importing. Data error (cylic redundacy check) and discovered it had put 300 patient names into the mutiple at risk group when only a few actually had more than one risk factor. I was advised by PCT IT to try a another newly formatted floppy disk. This worked OK and I ended up with 20 multiple patients.

I wonder if it would be possible for the Visual Basic error checking to produce more meaningful error messages.

The finished result was worthwhile (although the whole prosess with the errors was very time consuming) and I ended up with results similar to my own EMIS searches although the at risk under 65 group was less inflated in the Toolkit.

Finally, on the Form 1A it would be useful if the spreadsheet could show a total for the at risk under 65 age groups vaccinated and if percentage uptakes figures could be calculated and shown in the report.
