Message:   Yup Frenchy, but we officially heard about the Thresher the second day we were in Monoco. The first night I had the Radio Watch and Naval Radio station New London was trying to raise the Thresher via CW all night long. I knew something was dissarray because all boats had to send Check Reports so stating they were okay. Depending on your deployment determined how frequently you sent check reports. Check reports were suspended when you weren't at sea.
