Thanks to Frenchy for bringing this to my attention as we lost a GREAT SHIPMATE recently.
Henry was a member of the "old guard", serving on Sea Robin from 1949-52 alongside many of the WWII Vets. He was a valuable source of information on the shipmates that served during that era. He also had quite a few pictures which he unselfishly shared with us. I miss his phone calls at all hours, when he had some info to pass on or a question for me.
He served on Sea Robin when they made their first MED run and went through the Portsmouth yard when she was converted to Guppy 1A. During the yard trial, something went terribly wrong and they took on a huge amount of water in the engine room that he was serving in. He said it was up to the deck plates.

In order to get lined up to get the weight off, he had to drop down into the lower level and dive/swim to open up the connection to the drain pump. He had to make numerous attempts before he was successful. Then they went back to Portsmouth to put things in order.
Henry attended our 1999 reunion in Reno as well as the Atlantic City gathering, where he was introduced to many of his shipmates. He was happy for that.
