Uploading our own pix?
Hi Mark, Was surfing the internet to see what kind of outline software there was. Found "Paint by Number" and not much else, till I found yours. You have downloadable images. What about letting us upload out own images we would want to print out with the color codes? Is this something that is in the offing? It looks like a program addition that I would be interested in paying for. However, if that is not part of the program for this software, does the "Paint by Number" program do a good job in outlining? I like the looks of yours!!!

I'm probably going to make someone mad with this, but if I don't say anything about this, someone else eventually will. I am a big fan of PhotoPat, an earlier version of this program from the early 90's. It's still on many shareware websites, but it does not run well enough to use on modern operating systems. I would really love a current version of Photopat, but I want to use my own graphics. I have no interest in only using what comes with the program. If your company is really not interested in putting in that feature, maybe you should make a SegPlay classic, and charge more for it, and include the ability to use your own pictures. This should probably also include features for making cross-stitch patterns, beading patterns, pixel art, as well as the normal color-by-number pictures and posters. I'm sorry if you really didn't want to see this, but I have been annoyed ever since my computer would not use the old program. I even tried to program my own version. I never got it working, but I learned a lot about graphics from the attempt. |

Glad to hear that there are still fans of our earlier pattern generation PhotoPat program... In the late 1990s we had migrated virually all of that product's feature set into a professional level Adobe Photoshop plug-in (the Xaos Tools Segmation plug-in). Admittedly that plug-in is now somewhat dated and this creation feature needs to be moved out of the high-end Photoshop tools world. The truth is that supporting the conversion of user provided images is not as simple as it sounds, because of the large amount of tools and techniques needed to create a suitable coloring pattern from a diverse set of possible input image qualities. Never-the-less this is a very, very popular request, and we'll need to address it in a future SegPlayPC release.. Thanks for your support and patience... -mark |
