One of 2 things...

I don't know how to look up people like you do, because I am a member and can only see photos, so I must be doing something wrong.

Or...You are her friend, because from the way my facebook account stands, you can only find details on friends or if they are connected to your friends.

Re: Breeders Know Best forum on Facebook (according to the breeder)

I was able to get on and read the posts too and I can assure you that none of those posters are friends of mine! LOL. Wow, what a shock. I mean I know a lot of vets and techs have something against breeders but this was a whole lot of hatred. I had no idea there was this much hate directed at breeders in general. Even saying that no matter how clean their homes are, breeders smell?! A little demoralizing to say the least.

All the more reason to go to a breeder-vet. :)

Did get me to thinking I wonder what my vet thinks of me. I do a lot of research on my dogs and breeding and tell her that and i know it bugs her sometimes. I cant help it I feel like I want to know all I can about what is going on.

Truthfully, some of my absolute BEST clients are reputable breeders.... AND some of my worst nightmare clients are back yard breeders. Many vets love a client who researches and learns .... they are the ones least likely to be closed minded. It's a two way street and I find the best relationships with my clients happens when we listen to each other.

Being in the veterinary business can be somewhat stressful- for the vets, techs and all the staff... so these sort of blogs are just folks letting off steam. Sort of like if you started a blog on all the crazy things puppy buyers have said/done!

My best story would be the following- a breeder would come in a few times a year for a "high vaginal culture" for the current bitch she was getting ready to breed. Sometimes it's a delicate situation to try and educate someone with a lot of experience and not insult them. One time I casually tried to discuss with her that the repro specialists don't recommend routine vaginal cultures pre-breeding anymore and that some varied light bacterial growth was normal. Her response was that one time she had a litter with herpes and so the "high vaginal cultures" were very important to her, so she could be sure her bitch wouldn't have herpes. She wouldn't hear any of it about how the vaginal culture only identified bacteria, where-as herpes was a virus. (she never wanted the herpes titer, only the bacterial culture because that was the best way to tell). Honestly, I gave up after that point.

Most of the messages on the link don't sound like they are about reputable honest and concerned breeders. They are about the other "breeders" and also about what pet people *hear* breeders say (ie, not always what the breeder said but what the buyer hears).
