Can someone explain what an award of excellence is? Congrats, too!

An Award of Excellence is like a jam at a Specialty.

I was fortunate to be sitting ringside during judging to see Zeus and Paris winning BOB and BOS. They were absolutely stunning! All of the Labs looked fabulous! Congrats to all who qualified and special kudos to those who were able to make it to Long Beach for the competition. Heartfelt congratulations to Toni and to Christine!

For those of you who couldn't be there, Susan Eberhardt did a 15-minute presentation on Labradors in the main hall and did a wonderful job introducing our breed to the public. She had Labs in all 3 colors and ranging in age from 18 months old to 8 years old, on the stage with her. The icing on the cake was having Zeus and Paris there at the end to bring them up on stage and speak to their special accomplishments for the day! Great job everyone!

Was there no winners dog and bitch at this show? Was it only champions competing?

CRUFTS 2009

There was breed competition on Wenesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturday was only Champions there for the Eukanuba National. I think some of the champions that
competed at Eukanuba competed the other three days also. Not sure who won.

Baby Cutter who is with me in the Philippines is very proud of his littermate sister Paris!

From what I read on the AKC web the judge is a breeder of Japanese Chin and there were only 8 dogs in the competition,13 were invited.

First Congrats to all of the winners. Second sounds like a case of sour grapes from the poster (obviously your dog didn't get an invite)!

The top 25 dogs in the breed were invited, plus BBE Champions, and top Champions from around the world. Unfortunately only 13 actually entered and 8 attended. If you knew what was going on lately in the overall standings you would know that there is a "dogfight" for the top positions in the breed and all breed standings and most of the top five dogs are battling out in the midwest or the east coast for that coveted #1 spot.

BOB - Zeus has over 100 BOBs and is #3 in breed # 4 in all breed in just over a year of showing (He's not even 2 years old yet). BOS - Paris has some awesome specialty wins that propelled her to #10 in breed and #14 in all breed with very limited showing. BBE winner - John Brown has been tearing it up lately on the show circuit and is currently #11 in breed and #8 in all breed. These are all great dogs. Not to mention the Award of excellence winners who are also fine dogs.

Sometimes it is quality not quantity that makes a great show. After all it only takes one dog to beat you at any dog show!

I'm wondering if there are any plans on moving Eukanuba out of Californa for a couple of years, either back to the East Coast or somewhere else in the country. It seems this might be the reason for the low entries. I remember the last time it was held in Florida the entries were much higher.

Anon spectator from the Eukanuba still is a Judge that BREEDS JAPANESE CHIN not a Labrador Breeder I guess your dogs are great in all breeds shows!!!!!!!! waht about Labrador Specialty

Hey breeder, take it easy, drink your coffee, is Christmas.
Having a BOB or BOS at the Eukanuba Cup is vey difficult, not many labs can say they have that award.
