My bitch missed last season. Her progesterone numbers were right on and the shipped semen looked wonderful yet no puppies. She is due to come in to season after the first of the year. Last month I decided to run blood work on her and her T4 level was 1.3, which is normal but a low normal. So we decided to put her on thyroid meds.

My question is for those that have used thyroid meds for low normal girls. What number do you look for? I retested her after about 3 weeks and she was at 2.3. I was wondering if this is ok or should she be a little higher?

My experience with 'normal,' but low normal is having my repro vet put her on the lowest dose possible to maintain as close to "mid-point" and slightly over on the normal scale. More is not better, your target is the middle of the range.
