Taking care of pups

How many times or ways can you tell new puppy buyers to be careful with letting pups get over weight or rough play while growing. You tell them, they read it but you realize they must not believe it. Know some believe, what will be will be and other know environent plays a role. Just wonder what in a puppy kit or verbal can you say. Ideas ?

Re: Taking care of pups

I add a body condition chart showing the 8 levels.....from too thin to obese...in my puppy packets. I tell my puppy people to evaluate their puppy every week....if they look too thin......give a little more food....if they can't see a waist....give less food. I explain to them how important weight control is and that the amount of food can very depending on excercise and growth. Some owners think that they should feed the same amount of food forever and then wonder why their dog is fat. This chart has worked for weight control....if people can visualize what the proper weight looks like....it is easier to follow through.
