I'm going to be moving from NY to California and wanted to know which is the best way to do this. I would like to fly him out but I'm nervous about the flight. Also, are there any requirements that the state of California has for bringing dogs into the state?

Just like with humans, it's safer to fly than to drive. To the dog it's nothing more than a long car ride. Go for a non-stop flight. Continental has a great system. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/animals/default.aspx

Alaska Air is also very good with dogs. As Nancy said make sure it is a non-stop! Much less stress for all parties!

I've flown with dogs from England to the US and around the US - no problems. Labs handle flying very well. Just remember DO NOT give them any drugs for any reason.
