I happened to run across this survey by accident. The AKC has listed the most popular breeds in several major American cities. The Labrador Retriever is first in almost all the cities surveyed, with the exception of one, where Labs ranked third.

What was really interesting to me was that you would think that the ranking between the breeds would pretty much be the same from city to city, but after 1st place, the breed rankings are really varied depending on the city.

Very intersting! Perhaps in Miami, protection power is more necessary in a dog due to crime or because the Cuban population is a majority and they are more familiar with the German Shepherd.
