Feeding pregnant gal

Its been a while since I have had a litter and I am a bit brain dead or so it seems. My gal is just on seven weeks pregnant. Eats kibble. How many cups should she be eating at this stage?

Re: Feeding pregnant gal

Everyone seems to have their own unique thoughts on this. I have fed same amount but switched to puppy kibble by now. Next litter I don't think I will switch though, based on calcium issues discussed. I haven't had an issue but there is always a first time. However the extra protein is needed so I would supplement with meat or eggs at one or two meals.

Re: Feeding pregnant gal

Hello,

The meat and / or eggs should be raw or can be cooked? and the eggs should be with or without the egg shell?

Thanks!

Re: Feeding pregnant gal

With the meat, I went either way - raw or cooked. I usually boil a chicken and cut it up just for the dam. I give her about 1/2 cup to a cup (no real science, just grab a handful)with the kibble. The eggs were hard boiled. I hardboil a dozen and keep them in the fridge to add to the kibble. No shells, that would be more calcium.
