AVMA changes policy on MSN

The American Veterinary Medical Association has concluded that mandatory
spay/neuter is a bad idea. See the JAVMA article at

Re: AVMA changes policy on MSN

Thank you for the article Barb! WooHOO, it took
years and years, but, LOOK, they are telling the truth now!

"However, potential health problems associated with spaying and neutering have also been identified, including an increased risk of prostatic cancer in males; increased risks of bone cancer and hip dysplasia in large-breed dogs associated with sterilization before maturity; and increased incidences of obesity, diabetes, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, and hypothyroidism."

Re: AVMA changes policy on MSN

Thank goodness!! Heck! When I graduated from vet school (MANY years ago), we wouldn't have thought twice about taking a stand against something like MSN. Makes me wonder what the new graduates are being taught.
