I may be looking at it in a different light (and from a longer perspective) than some. I think the offspring should be considered, but the IMPACT on the breed (as a whole) should also be factored in. My nominee is Eng Sh Ch. Sandylands Longley Come Rain.
She produced 5 litters from 4 sires:

I listed some of the "lesser known" (in this country) champions and producers from diverse parts of the world to emphasize how far reaching her influence has been on the Labradors of today.
Awww Maureen..leave it to you. I really didn't mean any disrespect to you, but I guess that's what I get for trying to watch TV and type at the same time
Those are the best whelp dates I could find for the offspring listed under the sire. There were 5 litters, the years are correct, but the month and day were not given or accurate for some of the offspring.
Well Maureen, we do Agree on somethings My foundation bitch Adramrgha Lucy Locket JW was by Eng/Aust Ch.Sandylands My Lad...Mark and Longley Come Rain."Lucy" is still in my main bitch line today! Ch.Brooklands Hampshire Bucky was by Ch.Sandylands Royal Escort..Judy Davis has bulit a whole winning kennel on these lines www.Decoylabs.com. You might enjoy her pedigrees to see how VERY TIGHT we have been breeding these lines and they still"COME OUT CLEAN!" Was Can/Am. Ch.Sandylands Royal Envoy, "Royal Escorts" litter brother?
I was NOT planning on getting involved in this - but I have no choice.
Maureen, you truly nailed it on this one. Hat's off.... Lucy is/was a testament to how insightful Gwen Broadley was, and why she is and will continue to be such a legendary figure in our breed. Thanks for posting this.
Anki, that's what Maureen has too, but she doesn't have Kupros Master Mariner listed. It's the last litter. Also, Am/Can Ch Sandylands Marshall was My Guy's littermate.
Fascinating topic! I had to go look for an image of Sandylands Longley Come Rain, to satisfy my curiosity, and found this page. Sandylands Longley Come Rain is most of the way down the page, but the history on Gwen Broadley is an excellent read too.
We could go even farther back and mention Olivia of Blaircourt, dam of Ruler of Blaircourt and Sam of Blaircourt and granddam of Sandylands Tweed of Blaircourt. I challenge you to find a conformation pedigree that doesn't have Olivia in it many times over. For instance, Sandylands Longley Come Rain has Olivia in her pedigree 11 times. Also there was the dam of Mark and Midas, Sandylands Truth- and Olivia's granddaughter Sandylands Shadow. If we are considering the influence they had on the breed many generations down, these were way up there. They are in my pedigrees dozens, maybe even hundreds, of times. So is Diant Juliet.
A case could be made for Ballyduff Marina, who was granddam of Jayncourrt Ajoco Justice, who is in my pedigrees numerous time, and Ballyduff Lark, so important to American kennels like Valleywood, Tabatha, Beechcroft, Windfall. Marina is also behind many of the Kupros dogs like Master Mariner and Marshall.
