Can a stud dog be used if he's on doxy? If not how long after he's off is it safe? Thx

My vet says not to use him until 1 month after he finishes.

There was a well known stud dog (deceased now) that was treated for chronic lyme for several years before he passed. Was highly potent up to the week he passed. Repro vet who collected him for shipping out his chilled requests was consulted, reseached it, and told owner absolutely no problem at all. I would ask, though, why he is on doxy. If it is for some type of bacterial infection in the reproductive system, it would give me pause. But if for lyme, I wouldn't have a minutes hesitation. Consult with a repro vet if you are unsure.
