I keep seeing that people say this in regard to the passing of a dog or person. I looked it up and it means "a wish for a prosperous journey, success, and good fortune".
Maybe it is just me, but I find this confusing.
Is there some other meaning which I can't find anywhere?
I learned the term "Godspeed" from a nun, It ment go with the Grace of God watching over you and protecting you on your journey. So it would apply to a dog "passing over" too.
