How does one go about applying for an AKC registration number for a foreign (non United States) born dog whose parents did not have AKC registration numbers? I've been searching the AKC site and can't seem to find the information and required form.
OK then..........the AKC site is tough to navigate, and yes, it is under the dog registration category, then foreign dog registry on the left side list.
Your dog must be registered with a RECOGNIZED foreign purebred registry ( not all of them are!), so you have to look over that info as well, then request or download the forms. I have done this before, am doing it again, and would be happy to help you out if you need it, just e-mail me.
It was nice of you to post the link for this person to find the right form BUT I don't know why you had to be hard on them as if they are relocation from a foreign country chances are english is not their first language and maybe that's why they had a hard time finding the right place to look

Obviously you didn't look very hard. Just go to AKC, click on "Registration" and there's a link for Foreign Registration:
You will probably also need a certified pedigree from the country where the dog is registered.
It could also be useful to check with the controlling body where the dog is currently registered what information they have regarding exporting from there.
Hope this is helpful.
