2-week old puppy that is sensitive

Could a 2-week old puppy possibly have mites or something to make it quite sensitive/itchy? Mom came back (before being bred) from a trainer being a bit itchy - didn't give it much thought - never was before, nor any of her relatives. Now her singleton baby puppy is twitchy when stroked - like it's trying to scratch, though can't even see yet. Never seen anything like it - any ideas?

Same thing with my bitch. Came back from breeding and was a little itchy but found she had something like lice after the puppies were born. Treated her and then puppies (with citrus wash) and everyone is ok now. Mother had a reaction to something and now looks very mangy. Treating that now.

How did you diagnose the lice? Skin scrape?

as a singleton it does not get the constant stimulation from moving and bumping litter mates. It is not use to someone touching or stroking.

She needs to be picked up and carried around much more or you will have a screaming spoiled pup on your hands as she gets older.
