Taste Of The Wild

For those of you that feed Taste Of The Wild Wet Lands Formula, is it all right to feed to a pregnant girl. It does not have calcium in it.

Re: Taste Of The Wild

Yes there is Calcium in it. You can call the Company and get the Calcium/Phosphorus ratio. I can't remember exact numbers but believe numbers and ratio is okay. These are not listed on their website.

Here's a website where you can check for the info:

Re: Taste Of The Wild

When I inquired about calcium in TOTW foods, I was informed there is "1.9 - 2.1 % Ca, and phosphorous is 1.1 - 1.4 %, depending on which
formula."

So, IMO, the calcium is too high for a pregnant bitch in any of the TOTW foods.

I agree with Kim.

If you want grain free go with Orijen for pregnancy. I switch to LB pup formula around week 6-7 and start the pups on it when ready.

Re: Taste Of The Wild

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Re: Taste Of The Wild

What happens when the calcium is too high?

Re: Taste Of The Wild

Too much calcium during gestation makes bitches prone to eclampsia after whelping.

Re: Taste Of The Wild

I know this has been asked a million times....

What is the proper amt of calcium a food should have? What are the proper ratios with other minerals

TIA
