For those of you that feed Taste Of The Wild Wet Lands Formula, is it all right to feed to a pregnant girl. It does not have calcium in it.
Yes there is Calcium in it. You can call the Company and get the Calcium/Phosphorus ratio. I can't remember exact numbers but believe numbers and ratio is okay. These are not listed on their website.
Here's a website where you can check for the info: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/
When I inquired about calcium in TOTW foods, I was informed there is "1.9 - 2.1 % Ca, and phosphorous is 1.1 - 1.4 %, depending on which formula." So, IMO, the calcium is too high for a pregnant bitch in any of the TOTW foods. Here is contact info I received: Patricia L. I agree with Kim. If you want grain free go with Orijen for pregnancy. I switch to LB pup formula around week 6-7 and start the pups on it when ready.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
What happens when the calcium is too high?
Too much calcium during gestation makes bitches prone to eclampsia after whelping.
I know this has been asked a million times.... What is the proper amt of calcium a food should have? What are the proper ratios with other minerals TIA
