OCD/Dysplasia

Is OCD of the hock and stifle the same as Hip Dysplasia?

Re: OCD/Dysplasia

No - of course not. OCD is osteochondrosis dissecans, which is a cartilage disease that affects bone development, and of course, the hocks and the stifle are not the same joint as the hip. 2 different issues, though obviously the same dog could have both problems.

Re: OCD/Dysplasia

No. Different joints.

Re: OCD/Dysplasia

The hock, the stifle and the hip are 3 very different joints. Hip dysplasia is a very different joint problem than OCD. Both can also be diagnosed inaccuratly if not x-rayed by someone with an orthopedic specialty background. Both can be influenced by nutrition, injury, exercise and genetics. More specifics on your dog would help us give you better advice.
