I'm looking for opinions on using Iams Proactive Health Smart Puppy for a pregnant bitch and to wean puppies on to. Anyone use this? This food does not have flaxseed.

The Large Breed version of this puppy food is not recommended for pregnant or nursing dogs, only growth, but the ingredients look the same. I wonder why.

Iams large breed puppy does not have as much protein. Not enough for pregnant b*tch. Use reg puppy (green bag)during pregnancy. But large breed puppy perfect for growing puppies. I find especially little girls do better on less protein (less urinary problems). I mix 1/2 & 1/2 with Eukanuba large breed puppy which can be obtained with free coupon on breeder program. Hope this helps

Sorry forgot to mention. Also use reg puppy (green bag) during nursing. Switch to large breed puppy when they begin to eat.
