CKC

CKC passed a motion in December 2009 proposed by Anita Cairns - AB rep.....stating that an additional CKC charge will be made at CKC shows for each dog whose owner is not a CKC member. This is supposed to start in June 2010. It's another money grab by CKC and a nightmare for clubs hosting CKC shows. Can you imagine the panic if someone lists a CKC number on an entry form and it is a false or a mis-written number? All dog clubs in Canada due to privacy laws should not be able to access CKC's membership list....so they'd have no way of verifying that a person was or was not a CKC member. Then suppose a person listed a false number - is it up to the club to contact the individual to collect the fee for CKC or will any points won be cancelled? This will be an administrative nightmare that will be impossible to force. An average show in Calgary is 700-800 dogs..... most of the administration is done by volunteers!

Re: CKC

OMG - WHAT A PIA! How did this motion get thru??? Can it be challenged on the grounds of stupidity AND being impossible to administer & enforce???

It is NOT up to the club to go through all the numbers and collect the money.

There isn't a club in all of Canada that would put on an event if that were the case.

I'd suggest talking to your local director to get the facts straight.

Re: CKC

Hi Cathy
Just checked Anita Cairns website and no info is there on how this is to be administered - so you're more up to date than me. Thank you for that info. All Anita has said is that there will be a $3.00 fee of which the clubs may keep $1.00, co-owned or wholly owned dogs by CKC members will not be affected and that more information will be forthcoming.

Speaking with several show secretaries, this is still in the boardroom stage and has not come close to being implemented yet.

I would suggest any CKC members that are reading this send an email to their director to voice your displeasure. We have stopped their ideas before (remember the non-breeding agreement fee??) and we can do it again.

Re: CKC

CKC will be verifying CKC #'s when results are sent in by the show secretaries. It definitely is not up to the clubs to do this. There is a blurb on the CKC website about the fee. www.ckc.ca

Re: CKC

Displeasure HAS been communicated to the CKC. but alas:
