This is so gross but I found a worm in the stool today while picking up the yard.
I have never see one like this. It was about twice as long as a grain of rice and very faint pink color almost white. It had tapered ends and you could see lines across the body like segments but it was not segmented. It reminded me of an inchworm but smaller. It even had little tiny barbs every so often like feet. Totally gross.......it turns my stomache.
Anyone seen this before?
Me too... and don't panic if it is and you're thinking you have fleas because there's rodent type tape too. I live in the country and learned this eons ago. Tape segments are flat if you really look at them, not skinny/long. If you catch it fresh, it'll be moving too.
Hi.. it's too short not to be anything else? It's not the worm you are seeing but the egg segment. And when a dog or cat(never seen it on a dog but have on outdoor cats) is quite infested, you'll even see these 'rice pieces' stuck to their anus hairs. They die quickly once exposed on the outside.
You can take that dead piece into your vet and h/she will know if it's a tape and which kind. Or whatever it is.....
Am not a breeder, never will be but I do have labs and belong to a lab chat forum. I hesitated to respond on a breeders site (I read this site for information purposes)but a similar situation happened with one of our members. And, to me most important, this concerns the health of your dog, so jumping in. Here is the link to the thread regarding the worm. The third post down has links to pictures. Further posts, I believe, identify the worm.

Hope this helps.
Please excuse my barging in.
Just in case those of us in the frozen tundra might be missing the obvious - are the temps above freezing where you live? Your description sounds very much like some sort of fly larvae.
