Does anyone know what the recommended dosage for flaxseed oil is for skin and coat?

I've tried searching the web and I cannot find a topic on flaxseed indicating how much is too much in terms of dosage. Is it one of those things that you can't overdo?

Re: Does anyone know what the recommended dosage for flaxseed oil is for skin and coat?

At a recent club meeting we had a holistic vet speaking about nutrition. She said that Omega 3 needs to come from an animal (fish) source. Plant sources are not utilitzed.

Just information received.

Any comments out there either way?????

If that is the reason you use gel caps, that is a bit ironic. Gel caps are made from vegetable matter so if dogs can not break down vegetable matter, then they can not get the fish oil out of the caps!!!
It is generally better to feed liquid fish oil. The best way to supplement Omega 3 is organic butter from grass fed cows. Fish oil is loaded with mercury and PHPs. If the butter is from grain fed animals, it is pointless to feed it, as it is grain feeding which creates the omega 6/3 imbalance in the first place.
