Post Enterotomy stool issues - help?

I have a dog that underwent surgery for a bowel obstruction.
Since the surgery the stools have been normal to liquid-like. Sometimes both types in the same bowel movement. This occurs daily.
Has anyone else gone through this and have any advice on how to correct it or is this how it's going to be forever now?

Re: Post Enterotomy stool issues - help?

It depends on how much intestine the surgeon took out. The more intestine your dog is missing, the more liquid the stools are going to be. If this just happened chances are it is going to get better. Tylan is the preferred antibiotic to try to regulate the bowel movements. Good luck. It is a tough one.

Thank you. It was about 5 inches.
Glad you think it might get better. It's horrible to clean up!!
