I don't know specifically about a grain free -- I use the California Natural "Pure and Simple" Herring and Sweet Potato for a boy that has alergies and am very happy with the results.

I've been using Canidae grain free with excellent results so I'd say give it a go.

I meant to add that the Pure and Simple that I use does have barley in it.

No, they just came out with a new grain free line:

They have chicken, venison and lamb. It is similar to the regular California Natural in that it is very limited ingredients.
Thanks for the suggestion of Canidae, though I do think it is a good food my dogs did not do well on it and I did try their grain free salmon.
