No, Mr. Dawkins has not passed. He looks for a well-moving, balanced, not overdone Lab. He likes substance, but is very aware that a Lab is not a Newfie. He knows the breed standard well. He likes a happy dog, a correct coat, a well proportioned head and can see the whole picture when he judges.
Good luck!

Now that sounds like a great judge to me! I'm going to check where he's judging next.
And he was just like the first reply. I saw nothing consistent....yellow and handlers did well. All over the board...didn't like big preferred plain yellow straight front
I am the Asst Show Chair and Judges Transportation coordinator for the Memorial Day shows in Hampton, VA .... As of Memorial Day, Mr. Dawkins was alive and well and headed back to Florida. As I was not handling any dogs in the ring, I had a chance to speak with him. Now, what he says and what he does could be different, but....
He likes a well moving dog, he feels many of the dogs in our breed are over weight. Be sure and bring him a well conditioned dog. It doesn't have to be skinny. He likes moderate to substantial bone, but once again not fat. He (as he put it) doesn't like over done heads. He likes a nice pleasing expression, and he definitely pays attention to coat and tails.
