Limestone

Well after much debate, I've made the decision to use cement in the outdoor runs for my new kennel, versus pea gravel. Now hubby is telling me that hard-packed limestone will be better for the dogs, since it is a softer surface, it absorbs, and wicks away moisture. Anybody have experience with hard-packed limestone? Did you like it or not, and why?

Re: Limestone

My airing yard is limestone--three different sizes of rock compacted. OK for an airing yard, but I would not want their runs made out of it.

It will hold urine odor when it is used regularly and it is not easy to "clean" if you need to (diarrhea).

Concrete runs can be scrubbed and disinfected.

Re: Limestone

Thank you, very much. That was one of the big concerns I had about it.
