Showing at specialties?

Since I'm new ...here goes.

When you show a puppy what type of lead should I use?

My pups don’t understand the English slip leads yet.

What lead for an adult?

I got scolded by a foreign judge for using a show chain.

Maybe if the judge prefers a certain type lead the club should tell us in their newsletter??

Just me, but I always use a chain. My pup runs right through slip leads and my older girl actually shuts down on me when I put anything but a chain on her- I even have a beautiful kangaroo lead I haven't been able to use because of it. I would much rather show in whatever is most comfortable for me and my dog- regardless of judge's preferrance.
