Service dogs for people with bad anxiety

Does anyone know what is involved in getting a dog registered as a service dog for disorders other than blindness, deafness, or assistance? I have seen service dogs with people as comfort and companionship. What is involved in getting that type of dog for a person? And what type of doctor would be the one to "prescribe" it?

You can contact Support Dogs of St. Louis. They have several programs where dogs are trained for assistance, including one for military personnel with PTSD. Wonderful group of caring individuals.

Contact "PAWS With a Cause". They have "social support dogs" for individuals that do not require "full service dogs. Social support dogs provide reliable presense for owner regardless of surroundings etc.
