Friend has a dog that may have a hearing issue (non lab). She's wondering if there vets that specialize in hearing? Looking for someone in the midwest if there are. Also, any tools/guides/helpful hints for training a dog with hearing issues?

google BAER testing this is the actual hearing test for canines...it is a clearance in many breeds.......you should be able to find a specialist

As for training tools, there is an ecollar, by Unleashed Technologies, that vibrates instead of shocking that is supposedly useful for deaf dogs. The handler can use the vibration to get the dog's attention for hand signals or to call it in, etc.
