laws governing puppy sales

Table state by state about puppy sale laws and who they apply to. I came across it looking for laws in a particular state after viewing an upsetting site.

It could be good information for even the best of breeders. It has *some* state by state puppy sales laws, further links and the penalities if not followed by those governed by these laws.

Re: laws governing puppy sales

If I read the lemon laws correctly, a couple of states require reimbursement of genetic and hereditary testing up to the price of the dog, PLUS the price of the dog as a replacement.....So if I were to purchase a dog from those states and test for EIC (genetic) and get an affected, the breeder would have to pay for the test and related costs plus reimburse the puppy price. Another reason to test those breeding dogs to prevent affected litters! (this of course also applies to CNM, PRA, RD/OSD, and NARC. ) Hereditary testing would include Pennhip and/or Preliminary OFA's (most states only give you a year)and OFA heart, thyroid, etc..
