Do most of you with several stud dogs use the Mini 5 all the time now ? Do any order the extender from other places ? I have not had a stud dog in about 5 years. Know things change all the time.
I am surprised you didn't get a response yet.
I do use Minitube only and have for about 2 years. Camelot and Clone are excellent extenders. Minitube is easier to handle easier to get and it's cheaper.
They are all good extenders. I do hear that some dogs extend better with one extender or another but you won't know that until you try them.
I agree with Greg. We did a test when we did two shipments to a reproductive specialist
(using the same dog of course). The first shipment with Chill 5 and the second with Chill 10. The quality and numbers of the Chill 10 shipment was much better than with the Chill 5. Chill 10 done correctly is better with more than one specialist I know. It is more difficult to prepare. You have to draw from the center of the yolk to be sure you aren't getting any membrane mixed in. Extraction pipettes cut sharply on an angle(to puncture the yolk)are best for this.
You can see transfer pipettes here:

They are cheap so just google them. Mine are 3ml and I buy a box of 500 which I believe are about $20.00.
When I use Chill 10 I take scissors and cut the tip of the pipette on a sharp angle so it leaves a point. Then pierce the egg yolk (which is sitting in the egg separator)and draw from the center of it cleanly. Once you've done this for a while you use what works best with the greatest success.
Camelot and Clone are the best. Chill 5 is OK. Will not use Chill 10 - heard of waaaayyy too many misses.
It is very likely you didn't follow Minitubes directions to a T. Including using their shipping box, chilling before packing, etc. And/or the timing was off.

There is no ONE BEST extender for all dogs. Every dog needs to be tested with different extenders to see which works for him. One of my boys extends okay with Chill 5, but best with Chill 10. Another boy doesn't extend well at all with Chill 5, somewhat better with Chill 10, but best with Camelot Farms. Different boys have different chemistries, so you can't have a blanket statement that one extender is good, another is bad.
Was not really asking about Mini 10. Just Mini 5 compared to Camelot extender. I see there is still some who do and some who don't like the Mini 5 or 10. That is why I stayed with the Camelot extender before and guess I will now again. I do understand dogs react differently. Thanks for feedback.
