Re: ACL surgery prices near you?

I realize this thread is a month old and the OP has probably found a surgeon by now, but I wondered where the heck in FL you are?? My 11-month-old lab just had TTA surgery on her left knee 3 weeks ago and I live in FL. Her surgery was done by an excellent and highly recommended ortho surgeon and it was $2,600.

Re: ACL surgery prices near you?

I wanted to update you on my option with my girl.
she happen to be bred the week before the injury so we were
trying to get our ducks in a row if she was not pregnant and if she was.
Well the pregnancy took so surgery was not an option for her.
she had a extreme tear of the left CCL, I worked with a vet that is not a fan of surgery and she turned me on to a company http://www.aceorthosolutions.com/

the vet has used this product on many dogs with great success. So we cast the leg and waited for the brace to arrive. Once I got the neoprene sleeve cut to fit perfect it was a dream to put on and off, and she really did not seem to mind the brace on at all. It was amazing how much relief it gave her and allowed structured movement while allowing the leg to heal itself.

her litter is now 4 weeks old and she has been wearing the brace since beginning of February and she is doing wonderfully. I jsut started letting her move around the house with out it but I put in on whenever we go outside and the chance of her running is higher. with it on she moves and scoots with the other dogs just fine. The brace stay put with out extra straps due to the neoprene sleeve. Cost was $450 well worth it and I am glad not to have to put her through surgery after all.

I'm still thinking it would have been best to put the $450 towards the surgery she will still need....

Good luck, though. I have never seen these work and all the dogs who've used it have ended up needing surgery anyway.

If it stabilizes the joint it will work. This looks like a good one, custom made to the individual dog. The problem with some of these is the joint is too sloppy because of a poor fit. Stabilize the joint and scar tissue will keep it that way. That's how traditional surgery works, the cord used to stabilize the joint will fail early on, it's not meant to hold the joint together permanently, only until scar tissue forms. If the OP keeps this on her dog for a long enough time she won't need surgery. Good luck to the OP and thanks for posting this, it looks like one of the better supports out there.
