Celtic Football Club Auctions Autographed Jerseys for Concern Worldwide
Online Auction to Raise Funds to Fight Extreme Poverty

New York, August 15, 2012 – Celtic Football Club is auctioning autographed jerseys in support of the international humanitarian organization, Concern Worldwide, and its work to tackle extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. The jerseys are one-of-a-kind, featuring Concern’s logo, which the team wore on Saturday, August 11th in their match against the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, at Lincoln Field in Philadelphia.

The jerseys are being auctioned through the Celtic Charity Fund online and include signatures from players, including Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley, Beram Kayal, and Kris Commons. The auction, which began today at www.celticcharityfund.org/auctions/auctionindex, will run through 4 pm ET on Tuesday, August 21st. Each shirt has a reserve price of $157.

“We’re delighted to host this auction for Concern and expect it to ignite excitement in the Celtic community globally,” said Peter Lawwell, Chief Executive of Celtic Football Club. “It gives our fans, who are known for their charitable spirit, the opportunity to show their support for the work of Concern while bidding on wonderful pieces of élite sporting memorabilia.”

“We are honored to have been involved in what was a historic match in the United States and are deeply grateful to Celtic Charity Fund for their commitment to helping Concern fight poverty in the world’s poorest countries,” said Sarah de Tournemire, Fundraising Director for Concern Worldwide US. “Each autographed jersey will make a profound impact on what we can do on the ground to reach the poorest and most vulnerable people and highlights the compassion of the community.”
