Swift boat model on ebay

I just wanted to pass this along. If you follow this link, you'll see a model of a swift. The boat has a price of $599 and of all things, one of the notable features of the boat is rust stains done by "one of the most experienced model painters in the world". Thanks for listening.

Re: Swift boat model on ebay

The $599 price is for the PBR model. The PCF is $400 more plus $70 shipping. That makes it $1069 by the time it reaches your hands. I guess that's probably a reasonable price for a 40-inch long only-one-available model, but with kids in college, it's out of my price range. Besides, I still have to complete painting and assembling the $35 Revell kit I got this past fall.

Looks terrible and it is not complete. It has not mount 51 or 52 and why would anyone want one that is rust colored?

Re: Re: Swift boat model on ebay

Terry,

You ask, "Why would anyone want one that was rust colored?"
If you look further you'll see other discrepancies.
There has never been a PCF with rust stains. All the PCFs were aluminum. Rust stains are from steel hulled ships like DDs, DEs, freighters and the like. A rust stain would take any semblence of authenticity away from a model PCF, like that particular model had any to begin with. It's still missing necessary hardware. It's still just a lousy model for a lot of money.
