after waiting all through the summer holidays for help with my daighters anxiety - it never came
and school started today but she didnt
the LEA tried to give her place to someone else but so far she hasnt been kicked out - we have a meeting in 2 weeks - and I have no clue when the hearing in front of the childrens panel is as our SW doesnt like to share things with me.........................
Gosh! Do I empathise!
My daughter has been waiting three months to see a specialist for her anxiety. She was told today the waiting list is 8-9 months.
It is so dispiriting.
Simon
So sorry to hear what you are going through right now. It is so tough. Hang in there - we are here to listen at any time and hopefully sometimes offer some insight or ideas via our experience. These waiting lists for specialists is awful.
Are these private specialists or part funded/attached to education? Either way it is just not good enough.
My son is seeing a psychiatrist privately and it costs the world but we do have a 'Mental Health' scheme here where you can have 6 sessions and then review and another 6 (max 18 in a year) and we get quite a bit back via the government health scheme. We are very lucky - it seems you have nothing like that in the UK?
It puts you all in a very difficult spot- Jezabel and Simon - trying to do the right thing and get the support and yet having to wait so long that things slide downhill even further. Are there any local MPs who might be helpful in pushing things forward like someone else here - was it you, Sarah, did some time back. I know it is hard to find the energy after awhile to know who to turn to.
Keep in touch and feel free to vent feelings - we understand and offer help in anyway we can.
Take care,
Linda
MP - yes Linda it was me, and my MP was absolutley brilliant and supported me 100% i can't fault him and i feel like hes my best friend when i see him in the House of Commons ( on tv )
Get in touch with your local MP you have nothing to lose.
I soooo understand exactly what you are going through. Please read back and have a glance at my posts. I went through the same thing last year when school started. The Welfare system, Court System, Mental Health System...And today, my daughter is in 7th grade, (this year I'm homeschooling her) but please take a look. Maybe you can find something helpful. If I can ever be of any help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Whatever you do...your child is not wrong..they feel what they feel...I did not believe my daughter at first...Wow..was I wrong. She was exactly right. Have Faith.
