update

Hello everyone. I have not been on the forum for a long time as our school refusal days are finally behind us after 5 years of basically what you are all going through. My son is nearly 18 now and although socialising can at times be an issue he has matured into lovely young man. He never went back to school after year 8 and we as a family went through awful times but what I'm trying to say is that school isn't for everyone and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I would just like to offer some advice and that is to keep a daily diary of events and take notes at meetings. Contact parent partnership for support they are great and go and talk to your doctor. I have read some awful stories on here and my heart goes out to you all but keep supporting your children as they need you. Take care x

Re: update

So pleased to hear that your son is doing well, Sarah.

It has been a long haul for you, and I hope life is now more settled and that you have time for yourself. You deserve it!

Simon

Re: update

Hi Simon. Its not been without its moments but on the whole he has done well, especially flying to Portugal in the summer with friends - two years ago he couldn't leave the house. He really wobbled before going but ended up having a fabulous time. We have had a slight role reversal recently as he has supported me enormously whilst I nursed my Mum with cancer and she lost her battle last month - both boys were so helpful -Mum really understood my sons problems and always went to the meetings with me so she has left a massive hole in our lives. To top that my youngest had 2 months off school with glandular fever and school did try and get him t go in - he was so poorly so thank goodness for the GP and parent partnership for their support. Hope you and yours are well. Sarah x

Re: update

Sarah - its just so lovely that you popped by to give us an update and to show us that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Your son has managed to keep moving forward - despite the challenges he faced - and that has made all the difference. And well done to you - through such difficult times - and especially through your latest loss - for being there for your boys.
Take care
Linda xx
